About Yoga Mama
Doula, RPYT, E-RYT 200, CHT
I have always been fascinated by the human body and intrigued by the process of birth. Since I became a mother, I've been dedicated to sharing the amazing benefits of yoga and hypnotherapy for birth with my community and I am beyond grateful to now be a birth doula!
I've witnessed the powerful effects of breath control, alignment with intuition and releasing of fear. After years of teaching studio classes and individual sessions I am broadening my reach with online classes.
My yoga journey began when I was just 11 years old. I had been a gymnast from the age of 2 up to 11 but when I broke my arm in a bicycle accident I had to take a break from the gym for a while. During that time I discovered the practice of yoga and really appreciated how it encouraged me to listen to my body and be kind to it.
In 2006, I decided that I wanted to share my love of yoga with others and enrolled in an immersive yoga training program at Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico. Soon after I graduated I started teaching at Urban Breath Yoga in St. Louis, MO. It was at Urban Breath that I found my voice as a teacher and discovered my interest in yoga during pregnancy.
In 2009 I became certified to teach prenatal and postnatal yoga under the tutelage of Stephanie Keach, owner of the infamous Asheville Yoga Center.
Then in 2011 I became certified in hypnotherapy with a special certification in comfort for labor and birth from the Hypnosis Motivation Institute in California. This led me to attend the my first birth as a doula in 2012 when a dear yoga student and friend needed a birth partner. This sparked my passion for birth even more and I became even more concerned about the often ignored needs of new parents in the postpartum period.
In 2018 I became certified as a Postpartum Doula through the Parenting Resources Center of St. Louis. Finally, in August of 2020 my life aligned in a way that I could fully commit myself to becoming a full time doula. After training with Purple Lotus Doulas Professional Birth Doula Program, I began officially offering my services as a birth and postpartum doula and have had the joy of attending a number of births in various settings, including hospitals, homes and birth centers.
I hope to continue supporting people of all backgrounds, races, genders, sexual orientations and various abilities in their journey through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
Yoga is my life. It is the inspiration for how I live, eat, play and serve others. Yoga Mama Online is the platform that allows me to share my passion and still be available to consciously parent my children, Mika and Teo, and be fully available to attend the births of my clients.
